Owen Woodruff Bunker
1902 - 1989

Owen Woodruff Bunker, 86, passed away February 14, 1989, Sandy, Utah. He was born September 22, 1902 on Bigelow Ranch, historicaly known as Magatsu near Gunlock, Utah to William Edward and Emma Iverson Bunker. Moved with his family in 1907 to Pioneer, Utah, which is now the Delta, Utah area. He graduated from Millard Academy in Hinckley, Utah in 1922. Fulfilled a two year mission for the LDS Church in the Arkansas Conference of the Central States Mission. Married Ruth Collier Robinson December 12, 1923 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died October 19, 1933 leaving four young children. Married Merodean Huntsman, March 20, 1935 in Provo, Utah.

He served for eight years as Millard County Treasurer prior to moving to Salt Lake City in 1937, where he organized the Owen Bunker and Sons Insurance Agency. He was a principal officer in the Western States Refinery Company (Beeline), subsequently Husky Oil, and was a principal developer with associates of Oakridge and Willow Creek Country Clubs. Later was a principal in American National Bank, and a charter member and past president of the Ambassador Athletic Club and charter member of the Willow Creek Country Club. He was a High Priest in the Union 9th Ward, Sandy, Utah.

Survived by a daughter, Mrs. W. Stanley (Jill) Johnson, Park City; and four sons, William R., Scottsdale, Arizona; Keith Owen, Billings, Montana, Richard Dean, and Stephen Blaine, both Salt Lake City; three sisters, Grace, Dorothy, and Jetta; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 18, 1989, at 10 a.m. in the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, where friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m., and Saturday, one hour prior to the services. Interment Fillmore, Utah City Cemetary at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made in his memory to the United Parkinson Foundation, c/o Larkin Sunset Gardens, P.O.
