Marylyn Church
1926 ~ 2011

Marylyn W. Church "Have a good trip" Our dear mother, Marylyn Walker Church, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2011.Mom was born to goodly parents, Winslow Roper and Josephine Bunker Walker in Delta, Utah on July 29, 1926. She is the proud mother of Michele (Ken) Parker, Janice (John) DeVroom, Ron, Brent (Esther), Dean (April), Bevan (deceased), and LeeAnn (Randy) Clark. She proudly counts her family, which includes 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grand-children, as her greatest blessing, legacy, and accomplishment.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, her sister, her lovely baby son, Bevan, and three grandchildren: Dustin, Tyson, and Casey. She is survived by the rest of her children plus her loving soul mate, Melvin B Church, whom she married in Delta, Utah on June 14, 1945. Sixty-five plus years for this loving union! Mom worked for IHC as a CNA. She counts her many volunteer hours, including (definitely not limited to), hosting at the Delta Museum, helping children at the local school, and especially holding and rocking babies in the nursery at the Delta Hospital as some of her greatest joys. She is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served quietly and faithfully. She loved reading history, traveling, nurturing her flower gardens, doing genealogy, crocheting, and making many quilts for her grandchildren and great-grand-children. She loved the piano and worked very hard to learn to play. Things never came easy to mom, but she always gave 110%. Her trips to several American history spots and the many camping and fishing excursions in the trailer with our dad were a highlight of her life.

Funeral Services for our Angel Mother will be held, Saturday, Feb. 5th at 10:00 a.m. in the Murray 8th LDS Ward, 160 E. 4600 S. in Murray, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday, February 4th at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S State, Murray, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the 8th Ward from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. before the services. A short graveside service will also be held at her beloved Sutherland cemetery at 3:00 p.m., where she will be laid to rest. Afterwards, a gathering of family and friends will be held at the Sutherland LDS Church. We love you mom and remember with a smile that you helped establish the first drive-in beauty shop in Delta and proof that you really can get deer to eat out of your hand.
