LeGrande Ellwood Bunker
1930 ~ 2009

LeGrande Ellwood Bunker, 79, of Mapleton, Utah passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease. He was born in 1930 in Vineyard, Utah to Antoine & Annie Mabel Anderson Bunker. He married Thelma Whitney in 1948. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1949. She preceded him in death in 1989. He married Josephine Tanner in 1990. She preceded him in death in 2005.

He enjoyed hunting, camping, motorcycling, traveling, hiking and many other outdoor activities with his family and friends. He was very personable and made many long lasting friendships. He was known affectionately as "Granny" by his friends. He was a long time member of the Wasatch Trials Association. He received many awards competing locally and nationally until he was 76 years of age. He was also a member of the Timpanogos Archery Club and the Utah Valley Circuit Breakers Club (CB, radio club). He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He faithfully served as a High Priest and had many callings including Scouting, Sunday School and teaching positions.

He is survived by 6 children; Randy (Ruth) Bunker of Spanish Fork, Lynn (Diane) Bunker of Orem, Laureen (Randy) Peterson of American Fork, Bart (Millie) Bunker of Mapleton, Brad (Ann) Bunker of Spanish Fork and Amy (Tad) Peterson of Springville; brother Ivan (Elisa) Bunker of Camarillo, California, sister Miriam (Orson) Stilson of Fairview, Andrew (Sue) Bunker of Lehi, Ralph (Debbie) Bunker of Heber, Kim (Linda) Bunker of Payson, Clint (Anita) Bunker of Cedar City, Linda (Boyd) Draper of Highland; 25 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 4 great, great, grandchildren. He also is survived by 5 step children; RaDawn (Wade) Larsen of Mountain View, Wyoming, Todd (Becky) Tanner of Tucson, Arizona, Kurt (Holly) Tanner of St. George, Chad (Alyson) Tanner of South Jordan, Cindy (Dan) Collings of Springville and 24 step grandchildren all of whom he considered his own.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Thelma and Jo, his parents, Antoine and Mabel, his brother, George Bunker, his grandson, Stephen Bunker, his great granddaughter, Paislie Bunker, his great grandson Josh Hutchings and recently his stepmother Anna Bunker.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Mapleton White Church, 31 W. Maple, Mapleton, Utah. Friends and family may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 82 W. 400 N. Mapleton and from 9:30 10:30 am Monday at the church. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
