Our mother, Amy Earl Wells, died of a stroke Wed. evening, October 17, 2001 at the age of 98 3/4 years.

Born 11 Dec. 1902 in Bunkerville, Nevada, the daughter of Agness Viola Bunker and Joseph Ira Earl. She married her sweetheart, Edwin G. Wells on 21 June 1932 in the St. George Temple. Edwin passed away 4 February 1995. They lived most of their married lives in Logandale, Nevada on the farm, a few years in Salt Lake City and 34 years in St. George, UT near the temple. Mother Amy was an exceptional teacher, loved by many children and their parents, including her grand and great-grandchildren, who learned to love books and homemade bread from their Grandma. She taught first grade for nine years before she was married, in Price, Utah, Caliente, Nevada, and Las Vegas, Nevada. Then she taught kindergarten after her children were raised in Logandale and Overton in Moapa Valley, Nevada for another nine years.

A dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life, Amy supported Edwin in many Priesthood leadership callings. She was loved by those in her Book of Mormon classes in Sunday School and Relief Society where she taught in Logandale Ward as well as many years as a Relief Society Theology Stake Board member traveling the old Moapa Stake. She also served a mission with her husband in Oklahoma and for many years as an Ordinance Worker in both the Salt Lake and St. George Temples.

All her family know of the joy of Amy and Edwin as they rejoice in their reunion at this time. She is survived by her children: Joanne W. and Elder Earl C. Tingey of Bountiful, Utah; Edwin Gordon Wells, Jr. and Annette of Vista, California; Samuel Bentley Wells and Patricia of Anaheim, California; Kathleen Wells of Salt Lake City; 16 grandchildren; 43 great-grand-children.
